Rooted, Like Trees

“If we surrendered to earth's intelligence we could rise up rooted, like trees.” ― Rainer Maria Rilke

Mother Earth carries deep within her all that we need to understand how to live, how to be courageous, how to love and care for each other.  And yet, not only do we seem intent on destroying her, most of us seldom take time to absorb the wisdom that comes from years of sustaining generation after generation of people.  When we speak of people who seem centered, calm, folks we tend to refer to them as grounded.  Yogis talk about grounding yourself into the earth below your feet as do those who meditate and mystics themselves.  We know so little about this earth even though many believe they have explored and conquered everything about her.  This Mother calls to all of us.  None of us can exist apart from this earth while we are on this earth.  There is so much left to learn in our own hearts about our relationship with this great Mother of ours.  Digging deep into the very ground that feels her heartbeat, we can, indeed, rise up like great trees decades and sometimes centuries old. And rise up, we will if we surrender.  Namaste

Gentle Thoughts:  Can you feel the heartbeat of Mother Earth today?  How often do you experience yourself as “grounded” into the earth?
