"A friend is one to whom one may pour out the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that gentle hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away." - George Eliot
We long to be friends to each other but sometimes wonder how friendship comes to be. If we have few or no friends we yearn for those to whom we can be ourselves, to be able to say what we need to say, perhaps to no one else and know that those friends will treasure our willingness to share, will accept what we have to say without judgment and not only let that which we do not need drift away; but, also help us to do the same. It’s not so hard really to be a friend to one who needs this gentle loving. Remembering when we needed the same—and it’s more than likely that we have—opens our hearts to those who need us the most. Friends love us when we are no so lovable, and we pass on the gift to those who cross our path. Precious is the gift of true friends and we are grateful. Namaste
Gentle Thoughts: Does someone need you to be a friend today? If you yearn for the support of a friend today can you find the courage to ask?
