When I was young, I admired clever people. Now that I am old, I admire kind people. ~ Abraham Joshua Heschel
The appreciation for kindness grows with age I think. Perhaps that is born of too many years of dealing with unkind people. Perhaps it is born of our own increasing need for kindness as we age ourselves. Whatever the case, kindness is the only thing that can, on a daily basis, change the course of that which happens in the world. Kindness is the incarnation of Love on this earth. In many ways, it is the only way we can really show love to one another, to ourselves and to the earth. In our own search for success, for power, even, we may have forgotten how to be kind. It is not too late. We, as a friend of mine used to say, “put our ego in our pocket” and do the right and kind thing. It’s so easy really, there is not a single person (even if only yourself) with whom you will interact who will not benefit from your kindness. Look upward and outward for opportunities that will surprise you. Namaste
Gentle Thoughts: Keep kindness in the front of your mind today. See what happens.
