"Giving frees us from the familiar territory of our own needs by opening our mind to the unexplained worlds occupied by the needs of others." - Barbara Bush
It matters not what we have to give—whether money, time, energy, or talent. What matters is that we understand that there are things that most of us will never be forced to understand. Whether the issue is poverty, displacement, or mental illness, those worlds may well be “new territory” to many of us. We do not open our minds first, we give first and then our minds are opened to the world of those who need us to care. Yes, we have our own needs, but one of them is to radically embrace the needs of others so that we find the courage to stay in the world we know (our own experiences) and sends us soaring full of Love into the lives and circumstances of others. Namaste and Rest in Peace, Barbara Bush
