"For an impenetrable shield, stand inside yourself" - Henry David Thoreau
When we seek to be able to face whatever life throws at us, Thoreau tell us to stand inside ourselves. The shield we build is not a shield to cut others out but to enable us to speak our own truth free from what others want our truth to be. We come inside ourselves and find that which speaks to our hearts and use that to discover who we are and who we really want to be in this world which seeks to ask us to conform, to be “normal”, and to be other than what we know our deepest selves to be. When we stand inside ourselves, those foreign expectations cannot dampen that inner truth and beauty. May it be so for us today. Namaste
Gentle Thoughts: Even though it is hard to stand inside and shut out the noises of the outerworld, can you think of ways that you have done that in the past and want to do so in the present?
