Optimists find joy in small things. They enjoy sunsets, a good conversation with a close friend; and they enjoy life in general. They are more concerned with having many small joys rather than having one huge joy. --Robert M. Sherfield
Being an optimist is not about “glass half full/glass half empty”. Optimism is about being able to find the joy in the midst of whatever is going on in their lives. While they have difficulties, they are able to find enjoyment in general. So many times we find ourselves believing that optimists are never down, never struggle with pain in their lives or never doubt the road they are on. This is simply not true. They are real people and real people are not always happy. Optimists do, however, seek to find the best, not the worst, in each situation and long for those small peaceful moments like a dawn that rises above the ocean even on a story day. We can all be optimists when we “put it like that”. We do not have to think of ourselves or listen to others who say we are being negative as long as we can still find joy in the small things as we move through our life. May we awaken to a new kind of optimism and celebrate the tiny wren singing in the tree outside the window who may wake us from a troubled sleep. Namaste
Gentle Thoughts: Look for small joys today. They are waiting.
