Your Spiritual Journey

The next step is to add in the various spiritual pathways that you explored throughout your life.  Placing your description of the pathway in correlation to the events in your life you have already listed can lead to greater clarity in the next step.

Memories relating to my faith, religion, or spirituality

Changed denominations after moving to Alabama--very active in church through teen years but always had doubts

1970-graduated HS and started College--new friends and freedom

Pretty much all over the map--tried very high church services--didn't go to church at all--got into philosophy

Graduated College--taught school--decided to do graduate work in theology--ordained--got married

One spiritual crisis after another--tried "progressive" Christianity

1979--son was born--unsure about parenting skills--divorced when he was three

1984--Moved to New York

Free to explore--tried all kinds of spiritual practices

Life Events

1952-born in Indiana--had big brother--parents argued a lot--big extended family--fairly sickly childhood--lung and ear issues--

Went to country church with most of my relatives--started having questions early on--had vivid imagination--played with fairies--loved nature

Started first grade at 7--liked school--rode the school bus--missed a lot of school in First Grade because of health problems--cousins became more important

Moved to Alabama in 1959--devastaed to leave my grandparents and cousins--did not understand the need to move

Parents divorced when I was 11-didn't quite understand--but was somewhat relieved that the fighting might be over--didn't understand how hard it would be on my mother to raise to children by herself.  Father in and out for visits, but did not make any attempt to assist my mother monetarily

Remember, this is just a brief sample of a timeline and a suggestion for a format.  You should do it any way that feels comfortable for you.

It's a journey....

This is not a on-time "sit down and do it" process.  It may take you several weeks to complete your timelines, but I promise you that it will be worth it as it leads you to a place where you can understand the interconnections and the mystical web of your wonderfully authentic lifestory.
